Apparently, the gap between the top of the screen and the earpiece (near the proximity sensor) allows dust in, which causes the sensor to not work. You fix this by simply blowing air into the gap (an air compressor may help).

this app is in heavy development, with lots of updates (check "auto-update" !). If you find a bug, please report it (using mail, FB page, auto report...) and wait 24h before posting a bad comment. I work hard on every little bug, I usually just need a few hours to fix...

International Galaxy S III Gets Jelly Bean, the List Keeps Growing!

It seems the list of devices receiving Jelly Bean ports is growing by the second. The GSM Galaxy Nexus has already received an official version, while the international HTC One X has received a port.

Not to be outdone, the Samsung Galaxy SIII i9300has received it’s own intial Jelly Bean port thanks to XDA Recognized Developer faryaab. So far the ROM has:

Dell launches the XPS 14 ultrabook, Introduces XPS 15

Dell has just announced the addition of the XPS 15 and XPS 14. While the 15 incher takes on the moniker of the “high performer”, the XPS 14 has the ability to be configured as an ultrabook, without compromising on performance.
Designed for mobile users, the XPS 14 Ultrabook features a machined aluminum chassis with innovative silicone base in a compact, thin 0.07cm design. It has a 14-inch screen, a backlit keyboard, and offers up to 10 hours of battery life.
Customers can enjoy the ample storage of a traditional hard drive with the responsiveness of a solid state drive with a 500GB hard drive and 32GB mSATA card[v], including Intel Rapid Start and Smart Response technology.

Both the 15 and 14 inch models share the XPS DNA, including features such as Ethernet port, a USB 3.0 slot, mini DisplayPort, and HDMI port, Waves MAXX Audio 4, backlit chiclet keyboard, multi-gesture trackpad, media card reader, and even the 1.3 megapixel web camera. The XPS 15, probably the most popular XPS in the Dell lineup, has also been refreshed in specs and pricing. The RAM on the XPS 15 can be stepped up from 6GB to 8GB and if you’re planning on maxing things out, then there’s even a 16GB option for you. Sadly, there is no option to swap out the 500 or 750GB hard drives for SSDs. There are four flavors of the XPS 15 to choose from (non-configurable, but each offering something better than the previous one).

Intel's First Smartphone Xolo X900 Review, Features And Price In India

Smartphone Xolo X900 was launched by Intel in the Indian market on Friday, June 15, 2012. Xolo X900 is Intel's first smartphone.
Intel has launched the phone in JV with Indian handset maker Lava. The smartphone, which is powered by Intel's Atom Z2460, is priced at Rs 22,000 Indian rupees.
Lava and Intel had announced their partnership at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2012.
Features of the Xolo X900:

Camera: It has an 8 megapixel camera with flash that can click up to 10 pictures in less than a second and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. It also has 10fps burst mode and 1080p video recording.

Galaxy S III : Rooting and installing ClockworkMod Recovery

This is a simple illustrated guide to show how to root your Galaxy S III  and have CWM ( ClockWorkMod Recovery ) installed. Rooting your phone will void warranty. It is a very safe process and the chance you will brick your phone is close to zero.
The process essentially is 2 steps :
1. Use Odin in PC to flash the Chainfire kernel to have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed. This will create a flash counter as is not a official kernel. You cannot remove this counter at present even using the USB Jig
2. After CWM is installed, boot phone to RECOVERY mode and flash the SuperSU.zip to have root enabled

Procedure: Have these installed in PC first:

1. Samsung USB Phone drivers – necessary so that PC can detect the G SIII. Download this from my box:
2. ODIN 1.8.5 : this is necessary to use in PC to flash any rom ( in tar format ) . Download this from my box :
 STEPS 
1. Download the Chainfire kernel-CWM file  SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.2.zip ( 6.6 MB )  HERE  . Extract  the zip file to get the tar file CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.2.tar  copy it to any location in your PC
Download the file CWM-SuperSU-v0.89.zip ( 570 kb ) from HERE . This file is for rooting. Copy this file over to phone external SDcard or internal SDcard
 2. Make sure phone is at least 70 % charged. KIES in PC is not on. Turn off any anti-virus
 3. Boot phone to download mode by simultaneously pressing Vol Down + Home + Power buttons
 
 
4. Connect phone to PC using the USB cable
5. Launch ODIN in PC. You will see the phone is successfully detected by seeing the Yellow small box with Com number shown
 6. Select PDA and browse to where you have keep the CWM tar file. Select the CWM tar file. Make sure Repartition is not selected and that Auto Reboot and Reset time is ticked.  Press START
The flash process will take less than a minute. On completion you will see RESET shown in the Odin window. Allow the phone to reboot itself. This will take about less than 2 mins

 7. After phone is successfully booted up, boot to RECOVERY Mode by simultaneously pressing Vol UP + Home + Power buttons . You will see the CWM Recovery mode 5.5.0.4
 8. Now proceed to ROOT the phone. In Recovery mode, Select ” install zip from sdcard” than ” choose zip from sdcard”.
9. Browse to the file CWM-SuperSU-v0.89.zip and select it. Select YES to install this zip file. The flash will just take few seconds. Select Go Back and Reboot System. Phone will bootup within a minute and your phone is now rooted.
10. Check for the app SuperSU in the apps drawer. test the root status by downloading apps that need root such as Titanium Backup, AdFree, Terminal etc

Galaxy Nexus : How to flash a new rom using ClockworkMod Recovery


In order to flash a new rom on the Galaxy Nexus, these are the steps:
1. The phone Bootloader must be unlock and phone rooted with ClockWorkMod Recovery installed. Download the GNex Toolkit to do this from forum XDA HERE. The toolkit will install the Phone Drivers, ADB and Fastboot Drivers . From the GNex Menu – select options 1, 2 and 4
2. Download the required rom zip file. After downloading check it is a good download by extracting it in the PC. If it turns out good, copy the rom zip file to the phone. There are 2 ways you can copy it over to your phone :
- Connect your phone to PC and you will see under Windows Explorer : Galaxy Nexus/Internal Storage. Make sure Android Debugging is selected at settings/Developer Options. Copy the downloaded rom zip file to Internal Storage OR
- Download app WiFi File Explorer from Play Store. Install app on phone. Switch on WiFi in phone. Launch this app and you will see a File Explorer Web URL : example http://192.168.1.3:8000 .
 On your PC, open browser and copy this URL address and your phone contents will be displayed in the browser. At the right hand side of the browser window you will see “Upload files to this directory”. Click “Select Files” and you will be directed to browse to your PC to loacte the files you need to be uploaded/copy to your phone. After you have selected the files,  ”Upload Files”. Within seconds, your rom zip file will be copied over to the phone.


Flashing The Custom ROM:

Switch off phone
Boot to RECOVERY mode by pressing the Volume buttons and Power Button simultaneously . You will see the following
 Scroll the Volume button down till you see “RECOVERY MODE ” . Then press POWER Button to select
 The phone will boot into Recovery Mode and you will see the RECOVERY menu :
  Using the vol buttons , scroll up or down to and perform the following actions : Press POWER button to activate your choice
- Clear Cache Partition
- Goto Advance and choose Clear Dalvik Cache
- Select ” Wipe Data/Factory Reset” ( Read the NOTES below on this step )
- GO Back and select ” Install zip from SD card” – than select ” Choose zip from SDcard” . You will see a list of all your files in the SDcard – use the Volume Button to scroll up or down and select the rom zip file . Press Power Button to select it
Your phone will start to flash the new rom
Wait for process to finish and phone will reboot successfully into the new rom. This process will take 2-3 minutes to complete
NOTES : Most rom developers will advise you to wipe phone , ie clear data/factory reset when flashing their upgraded roms or new roms. The main reason is to avoid bugs or unnecessary force closures and all such reports with phone wipe clean will enable the rom developers a more accurate assessment of your issues. However this step is really unnecessary if you are flashing among roms of same build ( eg 4.0.3). It is advisable to wipe clean if you are moving from say 4.01 or 4.0.2 to 4.0.3. Anyway if you did not wipe phone clean and you faced continual rebooting , than last option is switch off phone. Boot back to recovery mode, select clear data/factory reset and reboot system
You use the same method if you just need to flash KERNEL only. Just copy the kernel zip file into phone and follow same procedures. NO need to clear data/factory reset if you are flashing kernel only

Backing Up Your ROM Before Flashing Custom ROM:

This is highly recommended. To do this, boot into RECOVERY mode as above. From the Recovery menu – select Backup/Restore. This will do a FULL backup of your present rom and all your 3rd party apps, data, files etc . A copy of the backup will be created in the internal SDcard under Clockworkmod/Backup
This backup will be very useful in case your phone fail to flash or it crashed and you cannot reboot it successfully. In such a scenario, just reboot phone to Recovery mode and select RESTORE to recover back your original rom
You can use an app Titanium Backup Pro to backup all your apps/data. Launch Titanium Backup – select Menu/Batch : in the full listing displayed under BACKUP – select “Backup all user apps + system data”. If you have wipe your phone clean, reinstall Titanium Backup – launch it and in batch mode , under RESTORE , select ” restore missing apps with data “. If you are using the paid PRO version, all the backup 3rd party apps and data will be auto restore. In the displayed list, you can also choose what apps you do not wish to restore back. NEVER select anything else as some of the backup system apps could overwrite the new rom system apps/data. The non -paid version of Titanium Backup, you need to restore back apps one after another manually
If you need to restore some system data , eg messages, contacts etc – choose ” restore all system data” : UNSELECT all and only tick those system apps you need , example you can restore back the Launcher data where you have setup all your homescreen. Just select restore ONLY data. Reset phone and your system data will be back. If you are restoring launcher data, all widgets will not be restored back – you will see missing spaces where the widgets are used to be there . Manually reset the widgets again.
